1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Garmentz collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Garmentz mobile application and the garmentz.app website (together, the "Service").

This policy covers the Service only. Third-party services you interact with, such as your sign-in provider or a marketplace you visit from a link, have their own policies.

2. Information You Provide

Garmentz processes the information you give it directly: your account details from your sign-in provider, the photos you scan or upload, the item details you confirm or correct, your saved items and collections, and the messages you send us.

Each category is described in the sections that follow.

3. Account and Authentication Information

When you sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft, the provider may share your provider user ID, your name, your email address, and a profile image, along with authentication metadata. What is shared varies by provider and by your settings with that provider. Apple, for example, sends your name only the first time you authorize the app.

Garmentz stores this in your profile: email address, display name, avatar image when provided, sign-in provider, preferred currency, and sign-in timestamps.

4. Uploaded Photos and Item Information

Photos you scan or upload are processed to identify the item, extract its attributes, assess visible condition, find matching market references, and produce a valuation. To do this, photos are sent to the AI service providers listed in the Service Providers section.

Photos of saved items are stored in private cloud storage accessible only to your account. Photos are also written to the Garmentz backend as processing artifacts while a scan is analyzed.

Garmentz does not use uploaded photos to train a generalized Garmentz model, and there is no user-photo training program today. External processors handle submitted data under their own service terms and Garmentz configuration; this policy does not promise a provider retention period that has not been contractually verified.

5. Collection and Appraisal Data

When you save items, Garmentz stores your closet items, scan sessions, appraisals, and collection value snapshots with your account so they persist across sessions and devices.

Certain data stays on your device: scan history, item and collection value history, currency and display preferences, your watch list, and policy acceptance records. If you sign in after using the app without an account, the app asks before linking existing device data to your account.

6. User Corrections and Support Communications

When you submit a correction to an item's identity or attributes, Garmentz stores the corrected values with your account so the result reflects your input.

When you contact support@garmentz.app about your account or legal@garmentz.app about a legal or privacy concern, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and we use them to respond.

7. Automatically Collected Information

Garmentz keeps automatic collection minimal. The backend keeps request logs needed to operate and secure the Service, and Sentry monitors backend errors so we can find and fix failures.

The app contains no mobile analytics SDK, and there is no advertising or cross-context behavioral tracking anywhere in the Service.

8. Cookies and Web Technologies

The public pages at garmentz.app are static. They do not set tracking cookies, and they do not load analytics or advertising scripts.

The app does not use cookies. Sign-in state is kept in your device's secure storage.

9. How Garmentz Uses Information

Garmentz uses information to: provide the Service, including identification, condition analysis, and valuations; save and sync your collection; maintain and secure accounts; respond to corrections and requests; monitor and fix errors; and meet legal obligations.

Garmentz does not sell personal information, and does not use your photos or your collection for advertising.

10. AI and Automated Processing

Identification, condition analysis, and valuation are performed by automated systems, without a human reviewer. Results are estimates, and they can be wrong. Accuracy is affected by image quality, incomplete photo coverage, unresolved model or size variants, condition areas not visible in your photos, counterfeit or modified items, sparse market data, changing market conditions, inaccuracies in marketplace listings, and geographic and currency differences.

Identification and brand recognition are not conclusive authentication of an item. Garmentz does not offer a verified-authentication service or a human-review service.

You can review item details and submit corrections, and the Service may ask for additional photos to improve a result.

11. Market Research and Valuation Processing

To estimate value, the Service locates and ranks market references, including current listings and sold prices from marketplaces such as eBay, using the providers listed in the Service Providers section.

Estimates may update when new market evidence arrives, or when you add photos or correct item details.

12. Service Providers and Data Processors

Garmentz runs on the following providers. Each processes information only as needed to deliver its part of the Service, under the agreements that apply to its services.

Supabase: authentication, database, and storage. Cloudflare: hosting of the public web pages. Apple, Google, and Microsoft: sign-in providers. OpenAI: vision analysis and extraction of item attributes from uploaded photos. Google Gemini: validation of AI outputs. Google Cloud Vision: image analysis support. eBay: marketplace listing and sold-price evidence. Nimble, Zyte, and Jina: market evidence collection and search. Brandfetch: display of brand logos, limited to public logo images. Sentry: backend error monitoring.

Some condition and value models run inside the Garmentz backend itself. Your photos are not sent to third parties for those steps.

13. Authentication Providers

Sign-in is provided through Supabase using Apple, Google, or Microsoft. Your account with those providers is governed by the provider's own terms and privacy policy. Garmentz receives only the identity fields described in the Account and Authentication Information section, and never receives your provider password.

14. Database, Hosting, and Storage Providers

Account and collection data is stored in a Supabase Postgres database, with row-level security restricting rows to their owner. Photos of saved items are stored in private storage accessible only to your account.

The public website is served by Cloudflare. The Garmentz backend runs on servers operated for Garmentz and writes uploaded photos to local storage as processing artifacts while a scan is analyzed.

15. Analytics and Error Monitoring

Sentry monitors errors in the Garmentz backend. There is no product analytics in the Service, no mobile analytics SDK in the app, and no advertising tracking.

18. Business Transfers

If Garmentz is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. This policy continues to apply to information that is transferred.

19. Data Retention

While your account is active, your profile, saved items, appraisals, snapshots, and photos persist until you delete them or delete your account.

Deleting a piece first moves it to a state where Undo is possible. Permanent deletion removes the record and its photos from active storage.

Garmentz does not publish a fixed retention schedule. Copies that exist in platform-level backups are outside our direct control and are removed on the backup provider's own cycle, so deletion from backups is not immediate.

20. Account and Data Deletion

You can delete your account in the app under Settings. Account deletion deletes your saved data and your sign-in access. For account access or deletion help, email support@garmentz.app from the email address associated with your account. For a privacy-rights deletion request or legal concern, email legal@garmentz.app.

Some records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

21. Security

Measures in place today include row-level security restricting database rows to their owner, private photo storage limited to the owning account, verification of sign-in tokens on every backend request, and session storage in your device's secure keychain.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@garmentz.app. For legal or privacy concerns about an incident, contact legal@garmentz.app.

22. International Data Transfers

Garmentz is built on providers that process data in their own infrastructure regions. When you use the Service, your information is processed in the regions where those providers operate, which may differ from where you live.

23. Your Privacy Rights

You can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information. To make a request, email legal@garmentz.app from the email address associated with your account, or use the deletion controls in the app.

We verify requests proportionately, for example by confirming that the request comes from your account's sign-in email or through in-app confirmation.

24. U.S. State Privacy Rights, Including California

Depending on your state, including California, you may have rights to know what personal information is collected about you, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Garmentz does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of.

To exercise any of these rights, contact legal@garmentz.app.

25. European and UK Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights described in this policy, including access, correction, deletion, and portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

26. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and Garmentz does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact legal@garmentz.app and we will delete it.

27. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is no advertising tracking in the Service to opt out of. The public website is static: it sets no tracking cookies and loads no tracking scripts. Because Garmentz does not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals do not change that behavior.

28. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced in the app with reasonable notice. Minor edits that do not change how information is handled take effect when posted, and not every update requires formal acceptance.

The current version and its effective date are always available in the app under Settings, Legal, and at garmentz.app/privacy.
